Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as aLicensed Practical Nurse! Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:Provide direct patient care, including comfort, hygiene, safety, nutrition, and overall well-being, under RN or senior LPN guidance.
Monitor and assess patients,promptlyreportingchangesinphysicalormentalstatustothehealthcareteam.
Collectspecimens,performdiagnostictests,andaccuratelyrecordvital signs (temperature,pulse,respiration,bloodpressure).
Administer medications and treatments safely,followingestablishedprotocolsanddocumentingcareaccurately.
Participateinshift handovers,ensuringcontinuityofcareandclearcommunicationwiththeteam.
Assistwithpatient admissions, transfers, and discharges,maintainingsafetyandefficiency.
Respond to emergencies, including performing CPR and first aidasneeded.
Manage inventory and supplies, requesting and restocking medications and equipment to support patient care.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
Compensation:This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER)at each level.However, the salary offered will be determinedbased on qualifications and experience.
This position also offers premium pay at a rate of $5.00 per hourfor each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
