Rayburn Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Licensed Practical Nurse! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Learn to manage a wide spectrum of conditions, from emergency response and acute trauma, to chronic disease, wound care, and mental health. Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found
here.Implements selective aspects of the nursing care plan, i.e., comfort, hygiene, safety measures, nutrition, etc. under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.Observes patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and reports significant changes.Obtains specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.Takes vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.Transcribes physicians' orders and records medication and patient's condition on patient's charts and other records.Receives and gives change of shift reports.Requests stock drugs, medications, and supplies as assigned.Administers CPR in emergency situations.Admits, transfers, and discharges patients.Gathers information about patient's past and current physical and mental status.

- Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
- Salary depends on level of experience.

- This is a 24 hour facility.
