Job Duties:
Operates a variety of equipment to include police computers, confidential law enforcement database, audio and video surveillance equipment among other instruments to perform assigned job tasks
Investigates citizen complaints against police officers
Conducts interviews of victims, witnesses and suspects of criminal activity as well as interrogations when needed
Works with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies when assistance is needed on investigations
Supervises, protects and preserves crime scenes. This includes managing the collection of evidence at crime scenes
Training includes, but is not limited to: firearms, first aid, impact weapon, proper police equipment usage, electrical weapons, investigative training, and any additional training that the department believes will enhance the officer's ability to perform his/her duties

Compensation:Full-time employees are eligible for a compressive benefits package, including participation in the state’s retirement plan, health insurance, agency-paid short-term disability coverage, paid holidays, and paid annual and sick leave.
NOTE: The Orleans Levee District is an emergency-oriented agency. Part of the mission is to protect the residents of Orleans Parish from tidal surge, wind-driven water and river flooding. In emergencies during Mississippi River flooding and Hurricane Tropical Storm events, the incumbent will be on call and must report for duty if so required, remaining on duty in such situations until released from duty by the Appointing Authority.
