JOB SUMMARYThe Plant Manager II is a critical leadership role responsible for the total operational excellence of an aggregate production facility (crushed stone, sand, and gravel). This position provides strategic and tactical direction to ensure the site meets production, quality, and financial goals while championing Martin Marietta’s "Guardian Angel" safety culture.The Plant Manger II oversees larger production volumes and complex multi-site operations. You will be accountable for the entire life cycle of the plant—from pit development and drilling/blasting to final product load-out—while managing a diverse workforce of hourly and salaried personnel.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Enforce all MSHA, state, and company safety regulations. Lead by example to achieve "Zero Harm," conducting regular safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Cultivate a "Wingman" philosophy where employees take ownership of their own safety and the safety of their peers.
  • Maintain all environmental permits and records (Air, Water, Reclamation). Ensure the site remains in 100% compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Oversee the daily crushing, washing, and screening operations. Design and adjust plant flows to maximize Tons Per Hour (TPH) and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term mining plans, including stripping, reclamation, and pit development.
  • Collaborate with the QC department to ensure all products meet ASTM and DOT specifications. Investigate and resolve any material quality complaints immediately.
  • Manage the plant’s operating budget, focusing on cost-per-ton reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in the development of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) requests and oversee the installation of new equipment or facility upgrades.
  • Manage stockpiles and end-of-month inventory reporting; coordinate with Sales to ensure product availability matches market demand.
  • Implement and manage a robust PM program for all fixed and mobile equipment to ensure maximum mechanical availability.
  • Plan and execute major plant shutdowns for repairs, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Directly supervise, coach, and mentor a team of production supervisors, lead persons, and hourly staff.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews, identify training needs, and manage labor relations.
  • Act as the primary face of Martin Marietta for the local community, neighboring landowners, and regulatory inspectors.

The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position. In addition, this role is eligible for our annual bonus program.
