Position Summary: Responsible for all production, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving functions. Ensures products and goods are produced efficiently, safely, and meet the quality standards of Polyglass. Responsible for the development of production goals and drives continuous improvement throughout the entire operation. Position reports to the Senior Corporate Operations Manager and provides an interface with the Production, Maintenance, Quality, Shipping/Receiving, and other functional departments as required. Additional reporting to Director, Manufacturing.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes a ‘safety first’ culture by living by example and consistently enforcing all policies surrounding safety
- Lend input, expertise, and guidance in all areas of production including line operation, staffing optimization, safety, team morale, quality, maintenance, logistics, and all other areas of delivering on goals
- Ensures that products being manufactured meet the company’s standards, policies, and practices.
- Partner with Human Resources to track, strategize and improve upon turnover / retention numbers by creating a strong culture where team members feel respected and appreciated and Supervisors are adequately trained
- Manage a plant-wide budget efficiently and effectively
- Develops annual business planning and budgeting of the manufacturing plant.
- Confers with senior management to ensure that manufacturing objectives are being met.
- Supervises the work of all manufacturing plant staff.
- Creates short and long-term plans to increase efficiency and profitability of the plant.
- Establishes SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time bound) goals for him (her)self and the manufacturing plant employees.
- Reviews management operating system to ensure all aspects of operations are being monitored and measured on consistent bases. Identify permanent solutions to problems.
- Ensures environmental and regulatory compliance.
- Analyzes line speed charts and develops goals based on real time data.
- Reviews monthly KPI’s
- Spends majority of time on the production floor with Superintendent performing the following:
Promoting a positive work environment through direct feedback, written notes/documentation as observed during plant processing activity-monitoring
Management process review of line date worker functionality and efficiencies. Equipment analysis and suitability for application for process improvements and corrective actions.
Promotes the company safety, quality and housekeeping policies through leadership and the concept of “management by walking around”.
Team building through meetings as needed. Works with Superintendent to provide technical advice, guidance, etc.
Establishes communication with all employees to collect feedback and suggestions.
Trains and motivates supervisors to ensure finished goods meet production specifications and proper records are maintained.
- Performs other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing leadership role (managing people and process) is required, showing career stability, but also progression
- Experience in managing production teams to success
- Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial management, business, or engineering is preferred, however, strong relevant experience from non-degreed candidates will be considered
- Experience in the following environments preferred: web process manufacturing, paper/printing, building materials, roofing, fiberglass, waterproofing
- Strong mechanical aptitude - technical knowledge and troubleshooting of industrial automation equipment - is highly preferred
- A history of strong Root Cause Analysis - technical and overall process - is key to success in this role
- A documented record of success in tracking and improving turnover within a production team
- Must be available via phone for 24/7 plant support.
