The primary purpose of this position is to provide health care including medical diagnosis and treatment under the supervision of a physician. The Physician Extender II (PE II) will provide health services in all health department programs as described in program policies and proceduresThe employee will act as a consultant to nursing, lab, social works, students and administration. Work will be supervised by their supervising Physician and the agency’s director of nursing. The employee will on occasion serve as a preceptor to other employees. The PE II will keep abreast of the changing scope of medical and public health practice, provide in-service training to staff, i.e. CPR training. The PE II will serve as a member of the agency investigating team in the event of a disease outbreak and/or staffing of emergency shelters. Other duties as directed by supervisor.Preferred experience in pediatrics, women’s health, family planning and communicable disease. Prefer one year of experience as a public health FNP/PA or one (1) year experience providing direct patient care in a primary care setting.Graduation from a Masters Level Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee. Licensed in the state of North Carolina as a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant.
- Valid NC Driver’s license
- Certified in basic CPR life support.
