Physical Therapist – (1:1 Cash‑Based Care, Competitive Pay, Weekly Ongoing Mentorship)

Auto-Ness Physical Therapy- Scripps Ranch
San Diego, CA

Hopefully, you’re the thoughtful, patient‑centered Physical Therapist we’ve been looking for.

Before we go any further, here’s what’s waiting for you at Auto‑Ness Physical Therapy:

  • $90,000–$110,000 base salary (depending on experience) from day one, plus additional bonuses that are tied to continuity and quality, not visit volume.
  • 60‑minute, 1‑on‑1 patient sessions. No double‑booking, no aides, no “3 patients an hour” chaos.
  • Realistic, sustainable caseload (about 8 visits per day once ramped) so you can think, not just survive.
  • Cash‑based model with mentorship. You’ll learn how to confidently recommend plans of care in an ethical, patient‑first way.
  • Full‑time, Monday–Friday.
  • $300/month health reimbursement (HRA) you can put toward the plan you want.
  • 14 days PTO, 7 days sick time, CE support. 401k match after one year.
  • Structured onboarding and ongoing mentorship around both clinical reasoning and cash‑pay communication. (weekly huddles, weekly case reviews, weekly skills work).
  • A tight‑knit team that actually talks about what’s hard, supports each other, and cares about growth, not just productivity.

If that caught your attention, keep reading.

ABOUT US

Auto‑Ness Physical Therapy is a predominantly cash‑based, one‑on‑one clinic in San Diego. We primarily work with recreational active adult athletes (gym-goers, group fitness, CrossFit). We help our active adults avoid unnecessary surgery, injections, and long‑term meds by giving them focused, individualized care in a calm, intentional environment.

We’re not a high‑volume insurance mill. We’re a growing team that values:

  • Transparency and honesty
  • Ownership and accountability
  • Legitimate personal and professional growth; we love to celebrate wins, and support each other’s personal and professional challenges
  • Real teamwork (we actually like each other and talk to each other)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a clinician who cares about both outcomes and client impact.

Day‑to‑day, you will:

  • Perform thorough evaluations that actually take the full hour.
  • Design and progress individualized plans of care that look beyond just the painful joint.
  • Make clear recommendations on visit frequency and duration, and follow patients through full plans (not “see how it goes” one visit at a time).
  • Have direct, ethical conversations about commitment and finances in a cash‑based model (with plenty of training and support, seriously, we have your back).
  • Participate in weekly team huddles, weekly case discussions, and ongoing weekly skill development.
  • Occasionally, join community or workshop events if you enjoy that type of engagement.

You’ll be supported with a clear framework for patient care and communication, with room to bring your own clinical style as you grow.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and eligible for CA licensure.
  • 0–5+ years of outpatient experience (we hire by experience band, not by age; new grads welcome!).
  • You value 1:1 care, clinical reasoning, and actually seeing people through a full plan.
  • You’re willing to learn how to talk about POC commitment when advocating for what patients need.
  • You’re coachable, open to feedback, and comfortable in a culture where we talk honestly about stress and growth.
  • You plan to be in San Diego (or are moving here) and want to build something, not just punch a clock.

Additional Perks:

  • ~$5K/year additional bonus potential. Not tied to churning more visits.
  • Health reimbursement (HRA): $300/month.
  • 2 Weeks PTO + 7 days Sick time.
  • 401k match after 1 year.
  • $2000 in CEU compensation stipend, and mentorship are built into your schedule. We love hosting CE courses!
