Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at a large medical center office. The ideal candidate will perform between 30 to 60 blood draws daily, primarily in a pediatric setting. This role requires standing for most of the shift and involves collaborating with a dedicated team. The first week will be dedicated to training and orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens as required.
  • Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment as necessary.
  • Update patient information and ensure specimens are collected and stored according to established procedures.
  • Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow all physicians' orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to inquiries.

Essential Skills

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5-7 years of experience in phlebotomy.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large medical center office, where you will be part of a team. The role requires standing for most of the shift and involves working in a pediatric setting. The dress code is professional medical attire.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.80/hr.
