The Phlebotomist collects and processes specimens from patients of all age groups, with a strong emphasis on pediatric patients, to support accurate and timely laboratory testing. This role requires advanced venipuncture skills, the ability to handle high draw volumes in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and a solid understanding of compliance and safety standards. The Phlebotomist also supports other laboratory procedures as needed and may assist with orientation and training of patient service technicians.
Responsibilities
This position is based in a hospital laboratory environment, assigned to the SB facility, with a primary opening on the PM shift. Standard shift options at this site include an AM shift from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a PM shift from 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and a noc shift from 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., with this role focused on the PM shift. The role is currently on an on-call basis to support leaves of absence and vacations, with the potential for schedule changes in the coming months. Schedules are provided four weeks in advance to support planning. Training includes full-time hours to help the Phlebotomist become acclimated to the facility, with potential involvement in specimen processing and dedicated noc shift training as needed, typically starting at 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. The work involves frequent interaction with pediatric patients and collaboration with a lab supervisor and team lead. The environment is fast paced and requires the ability to handle high specimen volumes using laboratory information systems and standard lab equipment. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
