Phlebotomist II

The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.

• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.

• Decontaminate and update patient information.

• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.

• Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.

• Understand and follow all physicians' orders.

• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

• Ensure 100% accuracy in checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.

• Package specimens for transport, maintaining integrity as per protocol.

• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

• Attend annual department training sessions.

• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture.

• Experience with blood draws and specimen collection.

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).

• Ability to draw blood using various techniques, including butterfly needles.

• 2+ years of phlebotomist experience in hospital setting

• Pediatric experience is required.

Schedule:

The position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule with a rotation for Saturday and Sunday, If working a weekend, a day off during the week will be provided.

Available Schedules -

  • 5:30am to 2:00pm with rotating weekends (Saturday and Sunday) 5:30am to 9:00am
  • 6:30am to 3:00pm with rotating weekends (Saturday and Sunday) 4:30am to 9:00am

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38771.20 - $49920.00/yr.
