Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description

This is a float position, requiring coverage across various sites including Murrieta, Temecula, Perris, Hemet, and Menifee. The coverage needs can change daily based on call-outs in the area. The main function of this role is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process in a clear and courteous manner to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match the script with 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of phlebotomy experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with high volume draws.
• Flexibility with floating to various locations such as Hemet, Murrieta, Moreno Valley, Temecula, and Fallbrook.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Work Environment

This position requires flexibility in floating between multiple sites, including potential coverage in Hemet, Murrieta, Moreno Valley, Temecula, and Fallbrook. The work involves a high-paced environment with a focus on patient care and adherence to safety regulations. The dress code and specific procedures for specimen handling and transport must be followed to maintain the integrity of specimens.

This is a Contract position based out of Menifee, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.11 - $23.11/hr.
