This Phlebotomist II role focuses on performing high‑volume blood draws and specimen collection across all age groups in a hospital setting during the 2nd shift. You support inpatient phlebotomy services, ensure accurate specimen processing, and contribute to smooth laboratory operations by troubleshooting issues, training as needed, and recommending workflow improvements. The position requires strong technical phlebotomy skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
This role is based in a hospital environment with a focus on inpatient phlebotomy and an IOP setting, including work in an OBGYN area. The position operates on a 2nd shift schedule from 02:00 to 10:00, Tuesday through Saturday. You can expect to handle an average of 30–50 patients per day, including pediatric and geriatric populations. The work involves extensive walking and standing, as you perform morning rounds, collect specimens at the bedside, and move between patient areas and the laboratory. You will work independently rather than as part of a large on-site team, taking responsibility for specimen collection, processing, stocking, supply support, and front desk processing. The environment is fast-paced and clinically focused, with routine use of laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and specimen storage units, and adherence to strict safety, infection control, and regulatory standards. Training includes approximately one week of systems training followed by hands-on instruction to ensure you are fully prepared for the role.
