Job Description

The Pharmacy Fill Technician plays a critical role in prescription fulfillment operations by accurately preparing medication orders for pharmacist review. This position supports daily production through precise picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging of medications while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The role also contributes to maintaining an organized, efficient, and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Select medications from designated storage locations, including pre‑packaged inventory areas.
  • Prepare prescription orders accurately for pharmacist verification.
  • Perform final checks on assembled prescriptions prior to pharmacist review.
  • Process daily medication orders in a timely and prioritized manner under pharmacist supervision.
  • Assist with handling returned medications in accordance with established procedures, including proper recycling or disposal.
  • Support pre‑packaging of frequently used medications during lower‑volume periods, including labeling and stocking.
  • Manually package medications and related materials as required.
  • Follow all applicable federal, state, and facility regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Maintain clean, orderly workstations and restock supplies as needed each shift.
  • Notify the pharmacist on duty of any medications or products that fail to scan or present discrepancies.
  • Adhere to departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and professional appearance.
  • Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as business needs require.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; responsibilities may vary based on operational needs.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in filling prescriptions and data entry.
  • Possession of a valid pharmacy technician license in the state of TN.
  • Proficiency in inventory management, including receiving inventory, sorting shipments and prescriptions, and entering all inventory in the database.
  • Working knowledge of brand‑name and generic medications.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Capacity to work at a steady, production‑based pace with strong attention to detail.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Detail‑oriented with basic analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to perform light lifting and routine physical tasks.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to report to work during inclement weather conditions when required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice.
  • Previous pharmacy experience required (one or more years of long-term care experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
  • Ability to work at a moderate speed.

Work Environment

This position requires working in a structured and regulated environment where safety and compliance are paramount. The role involves physical tasks such as light lifting and requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Employees must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to departmental policies. The position necessitates a readiness to work during inclement weather conditions when required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
