PICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) – Night Shift

We are seeking an experienced PICU RN for a 13-week contract on a 12-hour night shift (18:45 – 07:15). This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced pediatric critical care environment.

Compensation: $75–$80/hour

Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Position Overview

  • Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (24 beds; avg census 21–23)
  • Patient Ratio: Based on acuity (2:1, 1:1, 1:2)
  • First-time travelers accepted: Yes
  • Teaching hospital with full multidisciplinary support

Patient Population

  • Respiratory and trauma (including non-accidental trauma)
  • DKA, seizures, neurosurgical cases
  • Acute/chronic renal failure
  • Orthopedic and post-surgical patients
  • Transplants: kidney and liver (whole/partial)
  • Complex medical conditions and blood disorders

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of high-acuity PICU experience
  • Active RN license
  • BLS and PALS required

Skills & Experience Required

  • EPIC EMR proficiency
  • Vasoactive drip titration and critical care management
  • Invasive lines (ART lines, CVP), sterile techniques
  • Ventilator, trach, and HFOV management
  • CRRT, chest tubes, feeding tubes, epidurals, PCA
  • Devices: Artic Sun, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser
  • Bedside procedures with providers

Support & Resources

  • 24/7 intensivists, RT, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV team
  • Unit secretary and healthcare tech support
  • Residents and APPs in-house
  • Advanced monitoring and equipment available

Additional Details

  • Floating may be required to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, or general pediatrics
  • Orientation includes NEO + 2 departmental days
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
  • Scrubs: Navy
  • Free parking
