Security Officer (P art-Time) General Description Trinity High School in River Forest, Illinois, seeks part-time security officers for outside of school day hours. Position Summary Position Title: Part-Time Security Officer Reports To: Chief Building Engineer Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Compensation: $25–$27 per hour Schedule (shifts may be broken up and shared between officers): ● Weekdays: 3:00 p.m. – End of school activities (typically evening) ● Weekends: 8:00 a.m. – End of school activities ● Schedule may vary based on athletics, performances, rentals and special events. The Part-Time Security Officer supports a safe, welcoming, and mission-centered environment for students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors. The officer provides campus safety supervision during afternoon, evening, and weekend activities while modeling a professional and pastoral presence. The Security Officer contributes to a culture where students feel safe and supported. This position is unarmed and emphasizes visibility, relationship-building, and proactive safety practices. Key Responsibilities Campus Safety and Supervision ● Monitor campus entrances, parking areas, and key facilities during after-school and weekend activities. ● Provide visible security presence at athletic events, performances, meetings, and other school activities. ● Ensure that only authorized individuals are on campus and assist with visitor check-in when necessary. ● Conduct periodic patrols of school buildings and grounds. ● Secure campus buildings at the conclusion of evening events. Event and Activity Support ● Coordinate with the Athletic Director, coaches, activity moderators, and administrators to support safe events. ● Help manage crowd flow and ensure orderly entry and exit during school activities. ● Provide presence during high-attendance events such as games, performances, and special programs. ● Support emergency procedures when necessary. Safety Response ● Respond appropriately to safety concerns, disturbances, or emergencies while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. ● Communicate with school leadership when incidents occur and document events as required. ● Assist with emergency response procedures including evacuation, lockdown, or medical assistance as directed. Community Presence and Pastoral Care ● Serve as a welcoming and respectful presence to students, families, and guests. ● Model professionalism, patience, and positive engagement with young people. ● Support the school’s commitment to student dignity, safety, and well-being. ● Interact with students in a manner that reflects the school’s Catholic and Dominican values. Collaboration ● Work closely with school administrators, coaches, and faculty and staff supervising activities. ● Communicate any safety concerns, building issues, or unusual activity promptly. ● Support the school’s policies regarding student supervision and campus safety. Qualifications ● Previous experience in security, law enforcement support, school safety, or a related field. ● Ability to work effectively in a school environment with adolescents. ● Strong interpersonal and communication skills. ● Calm demeanor and sound judgment in potentially stressful situations. ● Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and respectful school environment. ● Ability to stand, walk, and patrol campus for extended periods. ● Must pass background check and required clearances for working in a Catholic school. ● CPR/First Aid certification (or agreement to obtain). ● Availability to work evenings and weekends according to school activity schedules.
