Part-Time Development Associate

OVERVIEW: The Development Associate fulfills a central role in the Development Department. They are skilled in database functions and will become a Virtuous Administrator. They are a fundraiser, assisting with several annual giving programs. They are experts at developing relationships and communicating with donors and the public. They are a storyteller, particularly using short-form video, who discovers stories from across the organization to share with our supporters. They are an event supporter for open houses and donor events and provide cornerstone support for the Annual Gala. Moreover, the Development Associate is a community builder and donor engagement specialist. The Development Associate will help the Department achieve its annual fundraising goals and advance RMRP’s lifesaving and life-changing mission. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • DATABASE: Supports timely processing of all primary data and gift entries for individuals and organizations in Virtuous, RMRP’s CRM system. Becomes a Virtuous Administrator. Contributes to advancing RMRP’s data by ensuring the accuracy of donor demographics, attributes, relationships, tags, appeal codes, gift amounts, and gift types.
  • COMMUNICATIONS: Communicates effectively with co-workers, volunteers, donors, agencies, vendors, and the general public. Daily communication with donors by phone, email, or text messaging, communicating with donors on the platform they prefer.
  • VIDEO: Creates video shorts for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. Creates short, thank-you videos for individual donors.
  • RECEIPTING AND THANKING: Ensures timely thanking and receipting of all cash, credit card, and in-kind gifts. Creates engaging, story-based thank-you correspondence. Contributes to the advancement of RMRP’s Radical Gratitude program. Places or directs “day of gift” courtesy phone calls to every donor, letting them know their gift has arrived and thanking them. 
  • FUNDRAISING: Coordinate electronic and phone campaigns to increase annual giving. Become adept at using Double The Donation to maximum efficiency.
  • ADMIN: Documents and creates workflows for everyday department tasks. Assists in the creation and updating of data entry styles and content conventions.
  • MEDIA: Updates website as requested. Builds our press release distribution list.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ensures the front lobby and personal workspace areas are clean, tidy, and organized for maximum efficiency, with current publications on display
  • VOLUNTEERS: Supports front desk volunteers to ensure they have adequate and meaningful work assignments. Supports department efforts in volunteer management and training.
  • EVENTS: Provides support for open houses, donor events, fundraisers, and the annual Gala.
  • OTHER: Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated ability to produce and edit short-form video content and maintain organizational websites.
  • Experience engaging and communicating with donors, stakeholders, and the general public.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and comfortable learning new software.
  • Experience with Customer Relations Management (CRM) software programs
  • Adept at maintaining accurate donor and constituent records.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Proven reliability, punctuality, and professionalism in both independent and team settings.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and programs of the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program.
  • Proactive and capable of working independently with minimal direction.
  • High level of typing accuracy and speed.
  • Team player who collaborates with colleagues to advance our mission.
  • Experience working with volunteers: assigning tasks, providing training, and supervision.

PREFERRED:

  • Prior experience in a nonprofit, fundraising, or customer service/reception role.
  • Experience with donor management databases (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce, OneCause, etc.) and donation processing is highly preferred.
  • Experience with short-form video fundraising and audience-building efforts
  • Basic understanding of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and office administration.
  • Enthusiasm for wildlife, conservation, and community engagement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BA or two years of experience working with data systems, data processing, data management, and customer relations. Experience working in a business/fundraising office.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as donor retention rate, donor attrition, lifetime value, and other fundraising metrics. Experience managing data sets using Excel or equivalent software. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands for common office tasks; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is usually moderate, with high activity and competing demands for attention.

COMPENSATION: This is a non-benefited position. $21 per hour, paid monthly.
