II. Summary Statement of Overall Purpose/Goal of Position:
Performs working-level customer service duties as needed to expedite efficiency and effectiveness of city services; acts as first point of contact with the public; performs various clerical/receptionist duties including receiving and directing calls, greeting the public & providing city related information.

Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent; Minimum 18 years of age.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent, some college or college degree preferred with an emphasis in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or similar
Experience: One to two years of prior experience in job-related activities, with demonstrated competence.
Knowledge of: Computer, 10-key, fax machine, copy machine, web-based platforms, social media; general City geography; City ordinances and procedures
Responsibility for: Great responsibility for the care, condition and use of materials, equipment and money; moderate responsibility for making decisions affecting the activities of people.
Communication Skills: Contact with other departments, furnishing and obtaining information; frequent public contact, both verbal and written, requiring tact and judgment; good English, spelling and verbal skills.
Equipment Used: Requires frequent use of office machines and equipment such as, computer, 10-key, fax, printer, copy machine, postal machine and telephone.
Extent Supervised: Moderate supervision based on tasks/assistance required.
Analytical Ability: Great mental effort is required; requires exercise of discretion and independent judgment; ability to organize and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Moderate responsibility for making decisions affecting the activities of people; evenings, weekends, and some holiday work required related to supporting special events; minimal stooping and kneeling; consistent talking, hearing and seeing; moderate pressure or mental fatigue; moderate exposure to muscular exertion, climbing or balancing; office environment, along with outdoor work in variable weather during events.
