The Adult Education Instructor is responsible for providing instruction to adult learners of varying academic levels, create, and maintain a dynamic and innovative learning environment. This individual will provide learner-centered instruction to prepare adult learners to enhance their basic skills, complete the HSE exam and become career and colleqe ready.
1. Assists students in the determination of educational and vocational goals;
2. Administers standardized reading, math, and language evaluations;
3. Participates in registration and student advisement sessions;
4. Maintains accurate attendance and scholastic records of students;
5. Conducts diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment to inform instruction and measure student learning;
6. Provides instructional methods designed for a variety of learning styles;
7. Develops an appropriate Plan of Instruction (POI] for each adult learner that identifies each objective and or skill for which the leaner demonstrated non and/or partial mastery;
8. Provides continuous feedback and adjusts instruction to maximize student learning;
9. Collaborates with team members to develop and monitor instructional action plans;
10. Works cooperatively with administrative staff to ensure curriculum is aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education;
11. Administers and interpret appropriate placement and diagnostic tests;
12. Effectively utilize technology to enhance student learning and increase student progress;
13. Maintains the usage of formal and informal assessment data to monitor and document student progress;
14. Works closely with the College and Career Navigator to address student needs and progress;
15. Participates in 30 hours of staff development through state-wide conferences, regional workshops, or local in-service training;
16. Assists with recruitment and outreach efforts;
17. Compiles and submits monthly enrollment reports;
18. Collects LACES data and submits/inputs in a timely manner;
19. Effectively communicates with, cooperates with, and supports other college personnel in daily activities;
20. Participates in EMCC and divisional staff meetings;
21. Assists with and fulfills other duties as assigned by the AE Director.
Education:
Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree in Education, or related field from an accreditedinstitution of higher education
required.
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to coach and instruct adult learners; Demonstration of excellent communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, and flexibility is required. Preference will be given to applicants who meet one or more the following criteria:
a. Evidence of success working with students, pre-college through higher education.
b. Experience teaching adult education/HSE and college readiness preparation.
c. Experience working with socially, economically, culturally and /or academically disadvantage populations.
Work Experience includerequired number of years documented experience in a comparable/related position: 2 years of relevant work experience required
