The City of Redmond is a thriving, culturally diverse community, and home to over 80,000 residents. Redmond is the hub of an array of commerce and industry ranging from technology, aerospace, and gaming to biomedical and innovation start-ups. In this role, you will represent the city, and our values of service, integrity, accountability, belonging and stewardship.
You now have an opportunity to join our Parks & Recreation department as our Facilities Manager. Considered a working manager, the Facilities Manageroversees the administrative functions, operations, maintenance, and repair activities of the (27) City-owned and/or operated buildings and related facilities including our U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver Certified City Hall and LEED Platinum Redmond Senior & Community Center.
The overarching goals for our facilities are to be welcoming, clean, accessible, sustainable, and safe environments for City employees and the general public. As our Facilities Manager, this means you’re responsible for the development and implementation of short- and long-range strategic plans and capital improvements for the facilities division. You will also monitor and maintain designated budgets as well as be responsible for the proper management of personnel, financial resources, equipment and vehicles, development and administration of policies and procedures.
As a
Facilities Managerwith the City of Redmond, you are also a public servant. And to us that means you are able and willing to listen to the needs of the customers and find ways to say “Yes” to their requests. This is more important now since building uses have changed significantly over the last couple of years. So as our
Facilities Manager, you are not set in the “this is the way we always do things” mindset. Instead, you are customer-focused and strategic with a natural ability to be empathic to the needs of the people who use the facilities. If they ask for something or point out a function that is no longer working as it was originally intended, you always work to find ways to make improvements that will balance the customers’ needs with the ongoing maintenance and operations.
