Panel and Wire Supervisor

The Panel & Wire Supervisor is responsible for leading the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical control panels and related systems. This role supervises technicians, ensures quality and safety standards are met, and drives productivity and continuous improvement within panel build and wiring operations.

The position requires strong electrical technical knowledge combined with effective people leadership. The Panel and Wire Supervisor works closely with engineering, production planning, and quality teams to ensure electrical systems are installed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with design intent. This role serves as the operational leader for electrical production activities and is responsible for team performance, workflow execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Job Duties:

Leadership & Team Management

· Supervise daily activities of panel builders and wiring technicians

· Assign work, balance workloads, and ensure on-time completion of builds

· Train, mentor, and develop team members on wiring standards and best practices

· Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability

Panel Assembly & Wiring Oversight

· Oversee assembly and wiring of control panels per schematics, drawings, and BOMs

· Ensure proper routing, labeling, and termination of wires and components

· Verify compliance with UL, NEC, and customer-specific standards

· Support complex builds and troubleshoot wiring or layout issues

Quality & Testing

· Ensure all panels meet quality standards prior to release

· Oversee point-to-point checks, continuity testing, and functional testing

· Partner with quality teams to resolve defects and implement corrective actions

· Maintain documentation and inspection records

Production & Planning

· Coordinate schedules with production, engineering, and supply chain teams

· Monitor production output, efficiency, and schedule adherence

· Identify and remove bottlenecks in panel build and wiring processes

· Utilize ERP/CMMS systems to track work orders and progress

Safety & Compliance

· Enforce electrical safety practices and proper tool usage

· Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies

· Conduct safety audits and reinforce safe work behaviors

Continuous Improvement

· Drive Lean initiatives (5S, standard work, visual management)

· Improve panel layout efficiency, wiring methods, and build time reduction

· Implement process improvements to enhance quality and productivity

· Track KPIs and lead improvement actions

Requirements

Education & Experience

· Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· 5+ years of panel building or industrial wiring experience

· 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Technical Skills

· Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

· Hands-on experience with control panels, PLCs, relays, and industrial components

· Knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and industrial wiring standards

· Experience with panel layout, wire sizing, and component selection

· Familiarity with ERP/MRP or production tracking systems
