Job Title: Facilities Technician – Industrial Painter
Job Description

This year-long contract role focuses on industrial painting to support building upgrades across large manufacturing plants. You will prepare and paint ceilings, columns, and other structural elements using industrial coatings and spray equipment, contributing directly to facility improvements and modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform industrial painting on building structures, including columns, ceilings, and other plant surfaces as part of facility uplift projects.
  • Carry out thorough paint preparation, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and surface conditioning to ensure proper adhesion and a high-quality finish.
  • Mix paints and coatings according to specified ratios and product requirements, ensuring correct color, consistency, and performance.
  • Operate spray guns and related industrial painting equipment safely and efficiently for both dryfall ceiling paint and wet spray applications.
  • Apply dryfall ceiling paint to overhead and high surfaces in the plant, following safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Perform wet spray painting on building columns and other designated areas, maintaining consistent coverage and finish.
  • Work in and around paint booths and designated painting areas, following all safety, ventilation, and cleanliness requirements.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for defects, runs, or incomplete coverage and perform touch-ups or rework as needed.
  • Maintain painting tools, spray guns, hoses, and equipment in good working condition, including cleaning and basic troubleshooting.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, and project specifications to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow across projects.
  • Support training efforts by sharing knowledge and, when requested, helping to train other team members in painting techniques and safe equipment use.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of paints and chemicals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, disposing of materials and waste in accordance with plant policies.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of industrial painting experience.
  • Hands-on experience with paint preparation, including sanding, masking, and surface cleaning.
  • Ability to mix paints and coatings accurately according to product specifications.
  • Proficiency in using spray guns for industrial painting applications.
  • Experience working in or around paint booths and controlled painting environments.
  • Understanding of industrial painting processes, including dryfall ceiling paint and wet spray applications.
  • Capability to follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow basic work instructions and production requirements.
  • Physical ability to work on feet for extended periods and perform tasks that may involve overhead work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with auto body or similar high-finish painting environments.
  • Familiarity with sanding techniques and surface finishing for industrial coatings.
  • Comfort working with various industrial painting tools and equipment in a manufacturing setting.
  • Willingness and ability to help train other team members on painting processes and equipment use.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality finishes.
  • Reliability and punctuality in a full-time, contract role.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large manufacturing plant environment focused on trailer production and facility upgrades. You will work Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of occasional weekend work depending on project needs. The work takes place on the production floor and in facility areas such as ceilings, columns, and structural surfaces, using industrial spray guns, paint mixing equipment, and paint booths. The environment is industrial and can be noisy, with ongoing production and equipment operation. You will follow all safety guidelines, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment suitable for painting and working around industrial machinery.

This is a Contract position based out of Stoughton, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
