Lab Technician II – Test Lab Support

Location: Vernon Hills, IL

Contract: 12-month contract

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (On-site)

Pay Rate: Up to $19/hr


Overview:

We are seeking a Lab Technician II to support daily operations within a test laboratory environment. This role will focus on executing engineering tests, supporting validation efforts, and assisting with lab operations and projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a hands-on lab setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bench-level engineering tests for design verification, stability, feasibility, and test method development
  • Support test method validation (TMV) and test method development (TMD) activities
  • Assist with equipment qualification (IQ/OQ) and lab engineering projects
  • Review and execute test requests to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Troubleshoot inconsistencies in test requests and collaborate with requestors
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Support lab functions such as environmental chamber supervision, equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, and test procedure updates
  • Assist in developing tools to improve lab efficiency and processes
  • Work cross-functionally with Ver/Val teams and other stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of Design Control, particularly in verification and validation (Ver/Val) testing
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to collect, record, and report data accurately
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic math proficiency
  • Developing technical writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to root cause analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (ISO, FDA, OSHA, ASTM)
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical lab equipment
  • Experience with environmental chambers, calibration processes, or equipment maintenance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams

Additional Details:

  • This role operates under moderate supervision with opportunities to take ownership of moderately complex tasks
  • Candidates must be able to work proactively and handle basic problem-solving independently
  • Experience in a lab or engineering testing environment is highly preferred
