Role Overview:

This position provides necessary and essential mapping and analysis services to the Division of Asset Management in the Technical PLanning & Programming Division through the utilization of the latest in spatial analysis techniques. In addition, this position provides assistance to anyone in need of GIS assistance in the entirety of INDOT. At times, this position directly supports the Road Inventory section, which is responsible for FHWA submissions as well as HPMS data collection and reporting as needed. This position provides expertise to in excess of 100+ individuals in the Division as needed with regards to locating projects, deciphering data from outside sources such as ISP, etc. with regards to critical infrastructure analysis and assistance with presentations. This position is also tasked with assisting individuals from other Divisions that do not possess GIS expertise. This position may be tasked with aiding those outside the agency, in other areas of both state and local government, including but not limited to MPO's, State Police, JTRP, Purdue, etc. This position will participate in statewide GIS initiatives, such as GIS Day, IGIC activities and others as deemed worthwhile.

This position is with INDOT's Central Office Location.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Gather information about business processes, business rules, methods of data acquisition, data application and assists in interpretation of the results.
• Assist in the methodic, non-routine examinations of office specific data through the application of analysis routines, queries/scripts and prepares the results for use in custom reports, charts and maps.
• Directly support the activities of the office through the maintenance of specialty software including data loading/unloading, mass editing of datasets, validity checks and error message interpretation.
• May test and evaluate new/existing technologies and business practices for practical implementation.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

• Advanced knowledge of operational, mathematical, analytical and/or statistical research techniques.
• Ability to understand and comprehend both written and verbal instructions dealing with technical and abstract theories.
• Ability to determine proper research methods to use, collect appropriate data and draw conclusions.

• Advanced knowledge of computer and software programs and the ability to utilize these skills
