Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse – Cardiac OR is responsible for providing specialized nursing care in the Adult Cardiac Operating Room. The role involves managing complex cardiac surgical cases using a multidisciplinary approach to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scrub and circulate independently for complex adult cardiac procedures
  • Assist in surgeries including CABG, structural heart cases (e.g., Bentall), minimally invasive valve procedures, and heart failure cases (VADs, ECMO, artificial heart, transplants)
  • Monitor and manage patient care throughout the perioperative process
  • Collaborate with surgical and multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and care quality
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital protocols

Requirements:

  • Active New York RN License (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience
  • Ability to scrub and circulate required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • BLS Certification (AHA required)
  • ACLS Certification (AHA required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Level 1 Trauma Operating Room
  • Experience with TAVI/TAVR and cardiac transplant procedures preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in high-acuity environments

Additional Information:

  • Experience with advanced cardiac procedures such as CABG, ECMO, VADs, and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries highly valued
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment
