This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Office Engineer to be based out of Glastonbury, Connecticut office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Responsible for project administration, record keeping, payment entries, correspondence, and delivering of required reports. 
  • Manage and mentor Assistant Office Engineers. 
  • Attend project meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes.  
  • Review daily inspection reports and payment quantities in accordance with contract requirements.  
  • Prepare change orders for overruns, changed conditions and additional work.
  • Review, log and coordinate with the designer to respond to Contractor's submittals, RFI's and shop drawings.  Ensure that field staff have current construction documents.
  • Confirm inspector reports are accurate and reflect plans, proposals and specifications and confirm as-built sketches, quantity calculations and tracking of manpower/resources is accurate.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
     

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma
  • Minimum 11 years of experience with resident engineering and construction inspection services and at least 5 years as office engineer on CT DOT projects.
  • Ability to read plans/specs and prepare written contract administration documentation.
  • Advise senior staff of potential change orders, differing field conditions and overruns. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word and Excel
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Professional Engineers license
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Engineer-In-Training certification
  • Specific experience with CTDOT construction projects that include highways, bridges, rail, and other transportation related type projects.
  • NICET III
  • OSHA 10 or 30 hour OSHA safety training
