Job Title: Off Shift Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The maintenance technician will be responsible for mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair throughout the facility. This role involves monitoring, repairing, and adjusting various manufacturing equipment and systems including hydraulic thermoforming presses, ovens, robotic waterjets, 3 phase motors, and Siemens PLCs & HMIs. As a multi-craft industrial maintenance role, the technician will engage in mechanical, electrical, and controls work, including plugging into a laptop and troubleshooting programs and drives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manufacturing-related equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Safely troubleshoot live electrical panels.
  • Participate in problem-solving groups and lean manufacturing activities.
  • Contribute to the maintenance department's efforts to achieve key measures.
  • Continuously learn to support processes such as thermal forming, adhesive application, molding, Isocyanate foam, high-pressure water use, and assembly processes.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks, aerial lifts, and cranes.
  • Edit and modify control programs on programmable devices such as A-B, SLC-500, Control Logics, Panel View, and Panelview Plus.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years working in a maintenance department within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years experience with maintaining automated machinery.
  • 1+ years of electrical troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical experience.
  • Ability to read machine drawings and control schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Automotive experience is a plus.
  • Robot and robotic control experience is advantageous (Fanuc, Motoman, ABB).
  • Electrical journeyman card is a plus.
  • Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems is beneficial.
  • Experience with smart cameras such as Keyence and Cognex is favorable.

Work Environment

This facility manufactures interior sound-deadening material for the automotive industry and operates in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment typical of the automotive sector. The plant spans nearly 300,000 sq. ft., with 40% of work associated with Chrysler and the remainder divided among various tiered suppliers and auto manufacturers. The current schedule involves working 50 hours per week, with most Saturdays and occasional Sundays, offering double-time pay on Sundays.ex

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Battle Creek, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
