Occupational Therapist

Young & Well
Rockville, MD

Clinic-Based Pediatric Occupational Therapist: Young & Well, LLC • Rockville, MD • Full-Time or Part-Time Clinic

We’re hiring. And we’re sad about it.

We have two incredible occupational therapists leaving the DMV — not because they want to, but because life is calling them elsewhere. New places, new chapters. We’re proud of them, and we’ll miss them deeply.

So here we are, looking for two extraordinary OTs to join our team at Young & Well:

  • One clinic-based OT in Rockville, MD (this ad is for our clinic in Rockville!)
  • One school-based OT in Washington, DC (here is a link to our school-based position)

We’re hiring for a June 1, 2026, start date or sooner. To apply, visit theyoungandwell.com/joinus to upload your resume and complete our initial application.

This isn’t a staffing situation. We are a small, local pediatric therapy practice where the team genuinely knows each other, the clinical model is relationship-first, for both the kids and the adults, and the people who leave create gaps which we can’t fill from the uniqueness of the people who are called away from the DMV or welcoming new family members, but we can find another therapist that can bring their own gifts for another opportunity to build relationship.

About This Role

This clinic-based OT position at Young & Well has not been open in four years! We’re looking for someone who will bring their own gifts to the children and families who need them, and to a team that will genuinely value them.

This is a rare opportunity to join a small, local pediatric therapy practice in a clinic environment where your clinical model is supported, your caseload is designed with you, and the people you’re working alongside are the reason this practice has the reputation it does.

At Young & Well, we are not a factory, and the therapists here are not expected to be machines. If you're a machine at your current setting, and it's leading to burn out and lack of energy for the profession you want to love, let's talk.

What Sets Us Apart

Young & Well is a neurologically affirming, relationship-first pediatric therapy practice. Coercive approaches aren’t part of how we work — and that’s not a marketing line. We built our clinical framework, the Responsive Therapy™ Model, around the evidence that meaningful connection is the foundation of effective intervention. We focus on the therapist as much as we focus on the child: your self-awareness, your regulation, your ability to be fully present in a session. When you know yourself, you can show up for them.

Our clinic is in Rockville, MD, and serves children and families across a wide range of developmental needs and backgrounds. As a small practice, we’ve kept the structure flat enough that you’ll have direct access to leadership, immediate support when you need it, and the autonomy to do your best work without unnecessary layers of bureaucracy in the way.

The Responsive Therapy™ Model

Our practice is grounded in a single, powerful premise: relationship is the intervention. We implement the Responsive Therapy™ Model, which recognizes that affect, attunement, and authentic connection are the conditions under which children feel safe, seen, and ready to engage. Competence is presumed. Play is purposeful. And the therapist’s inner life — their awareness, their regulation — is as much a clinical tool as anything else.

OT school taught you everything about the child. At Young & Well, we focus on you, so you can be fully present for them.

Your Work

In this clinic-based role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Carry a meaningful, well-designed caseload that matches your experience and availability
  • Design and deliver individualized interventions across a range of developmental, sensory, and functional goals
  • Build authentic relationships with children and their families as active partners in the therapeutic process
  • Engage in ongoing professional development aligned with the Responsive Therapy™ Model and your own clinical passions
  • Join leadership conversations about compensation, growth, and the direction of the practice
  • Work with autonomy — with your team just a message away when you need them

Dealbreakers (Ours and Yours)

We put these up front because everyone’s time matters. We expect you to have a list for us, too!

  • 3 years of clinical pediatric OT experience. This is about the structure of our practice, not a judgment of your abilities. Exceptional candidates with less than 3 years of experience/new grads and strong foundational experience and multiple clinical references may be considered. If you are a rock star, apply no matter what.
  • Demonstrated neuro-affirming practice. CEUs, work history, and clinical values around behavior modification all factor in.
  • Maryland license, or active ability to obtain one.
  • Location. In-person in Rockville, MD. This role is clinic-based.
  • References. Three parent references from families you’ve worked with directly. Two colleague references: one from a clinical leader, one from a peer.
  • Technology proficiency. Comfort with Google Workspace and our practice management systems is required and evaluated as part of the process.
  • Longevity mindset. If you’re looking to change jobs in two or three years on purpose, this isn’t the right match. Growth here happens in depth, not in job titles.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $72,000 to $90,000 (12-month schedule), depending on how much mentorship you require based on prior experiences, with a bonus structure tied to your individual caseload design. There are no secrets around money here, and we’ll talk through all of it before anything is on paper.

Benefits include:

  • Three healthcare plan options (medical, dental, vision)
  • 401(k)
  • Life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development support aligned with your OT passions
  • License reimbursement
  • Continuing education credits
  • Flexible schedule options
  • Employee assistance program

Our Process

  1. Apply: Fill out our form and upload your resume at theyoungandwell.com/joinus. Please don’t use AI to answer the questions; authenticity starts from how you show up.
  2. Vibe check: A brief call with our Clinical Director to surface the deal-breakers on both sides. Location, availability, fit.
  3. Real conversation: You’ll meet with our Clinical Director and a team member to get to know each other, our work with children, and what it actually feels like to work here.
  4. Space visit: Come see the clinic. Our staff will be there; our leadership will step out so you can ask anything candidly.
  5. References: We’ll connect with two parents from your current or recent caseload, one clinical leader, and one peer colleague.
  6. Compensation conversation: We talk through compensation and logistics until both sides are genuinely on the same page. No surprises when the agreement arrives.
  7. Employment agreement: We send it. We get to work on the timing of a transition period so the kids have the least impact possible.

Every step of this process is mutual. We’re deciding if you’re the right fit, and you’re deciding if we are. We want both answers to be a resounding yes before anyone moves forward.

Only complete applications from OT practitioners will receive a response.
