A school Occupational Therapist (OT) is a licensed healthcare professional who helps students develop, improve, or restore the skills they need to succeed in their educational environment. They focus on supporting students’ physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional abilities to participate in school activities and routines, as outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan.
Position Details:
- Start Date: Jul 27, 2026
- End Date: May 21, 2027
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, full-time, follows district calendar
- Grade Levels: Preschool through High school available
- Location: On-Site, in-person
Responsibilities:
- Provide school-based occupational therapy services aligned to student plans (IEP/504) to support access and participation in the educational setting.
- Deliver interventions that build fine-motor skill development needed for classroom tasks and daily school routines.
- Support functional participation by addressing gross-motor factors such as posture, balance, and coordination within school activities.
- Evaluate student needs in the school environment and help establish therapy goals and service recommendations.
- Track and document progress toward goals while coordinating strategies with educators, families, and school teams.
Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Occupational Therapist license.
- Current DORA certification.
- Ability to support students across preschool through high school settings.
- Experience addressing sensory processing and self-regulation needs that affect classroom engagement.
- Experience recommending and training on adaptive tools, equipment, and classroom/environmental modifications.
