Description:Holy Cross Medical Group (HCMG) and Holy Cross Hospital are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Neurocritical Care team within the Phil Smith Neuroscience Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team caring for complex neurologic patients in a dedicated Neuro ICU at a nationally recognized stroke center. The selected APP will support the Neurocritical Care Intensivist and collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, and critical care teams to deliver high-quality patient care.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- No call requirements
- Inpatient role within the Neuro ICU
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care for patients in the Neurocritical Care Unit
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds with the Neurocritical Care Intensivist and neuroscience team
- Evaluate, monitor, and manage patients with complex neurological conditions including:
- Acute ischemic stroke
- Intracerebral hemorrhage
- Traumatic brain injury
- Status epilepticus
- Post-operative neurosurgical patients
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic results
- Assist with procedures and bedside interventions as appropriate
- Coordinate care with consulting services, nursing, rehabilitation teams, and families
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation (EPIC)
Qualifications
- Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP preferred)
- Active or eligible for Florida licensure
- Critical care experience required
- Experience in neurology, neurosurgery, or neurocritical care preferred but not required
- Willingness to undergo specialized training in neurocritical care
- Strong clinical decision-making and collaborative skills
