Network Engineer
Full-Time Position
Somerset, NJ - Onsite 5x per week
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to support and enhance a hybrid network environment (on-prem + cloud) while playing a key role in upcoming infrastructure projects, including a large-scale new facility buildout.
This is a mid-level (5–10 years) role ideal for someone who is technically strong, curious, and eager to grow, with the opportunity to contribute to network modernization, security improvements, and new site implementation.
This is a fully onsite position (5 days/week). Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance.
Key Priorities (What Actually Matters Most)
Firewall Expertise (Critical)
- Palo Alto (preferred/future state)
- SonicWall (current environment)
- Experience with policy management, segmentation, and security controls is essential
On-Prem + Cloud Networking
- Hybrid environment across:
- On-prem infrastructure
- AWS (primary production environment)
- Azure (secondary/internal use)
Network Modernization & Optimization
- Opportunity to improve and reorganize an environment that is stable but not fully optimized
- Hands-on role focused on implementation, improvements, and practical execution
New Facility Buildout (Major Project)
- Involvement in designing and implementing network infrastructure for a large-scale warehouse/manufacturing site
- Likely includes Palo Alto deployment, wireless, switching decisions, and full network setup
OT / Manufacturing Network Segmentation (High Value)
- Experience with IT vs OT segmentation and micro-segmentation strongly preferred
- Environment already partially built, but requires ongoing maintenance and refinement
Core Responsibilities
- Support and enhance enterprise network infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments
- Implement and manage firewall platforms (Palo Alto, SonicWall)
- Contribute to network design and deployment for new and existing sites
- Perform network optimization, reorganization, and performance improvements
- Support network segmentation initiatives, especially across IT and OT environments
- Troubleshoot issues across LAN/WAN/cloud environments
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams on cloud networking and connectivity
- Participate in infrastructure improvements and future-state planning
Nice-to-Have / Secondary Priorities
- Automation/scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.)
- Exposure to AI-driven tools or automation in networking
- SD-WAN (lower priority)
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of network engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Palo Alto and/or SonicWall firewalls
- Experience with hybrid networking environments (on-prem + cloud)
- Solid understanding of:
- Routing, switching, and core network infrastructure
- Ability to implement and improve network environments, not just maintain them
- Strong troubleshooting skills across network layers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS (preferred) and/or Azure networking
- Exposure to manufacturing or OT environments
- Experience with network segmentation / micro-segmentation
- Background in mid-size to enterprise environments
