Job Description

We are seeking a mid-level Network Engineer who will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise WAN/LAN infrastructures, including routers, switches, and firewalls. The role focuses on implementing network solutions, ensuring compliance with security policies, and optimizing performance. Active Secret clearances and knowledge of Cisco/Juniper technologies are required.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain Cisco routers, switches, firewalls (Palo Alto), and VPNs.
• Create network diagrams, Visio drawings, and technical documentation (HLD/LLD) to support infrastructure upgrades.
• Resolve complex network incidents, monitor performance, and provide Tier II/III technical support.
• Ensure network compliance with security policies (STIGs, RMF).

Essential Skills

• Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance or ability to attain.
• 4–8+ years of experience in network engineering.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and SDN (Software-Defined Networking).
• Experience with Linux-based network tools and utilities for packet analysis, firewall configuration, and network service management.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, although experience may substitute.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in Linux, Python, and Bash scripting.
• Troubleshooting, installation, and automation skills.
• Expert-level Linux skills including kernel tuning, advanced networking protocols, automation scripting (Bash/Python), and virtualization technologies in enterprise environments.
• Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line interface for network troubleshooting and system administration.
• Experience in Linux system administration including shell scripting, network configuration, and performance monitoring tools (e.g., tcpdump, iptables, netstat).

Work Environment

This position is based on-site in Manassas, with work primarily conducted in the lab, offering limited remote flexibility. The job follows a 9/80 schedule, allowing for a balance between work and personal time. Opportunities exist to collaborate with senior network engineers and enhance your skills through exposure to proprietary technologies, with plans to evolve into a hybrid role on both the network and integration teams, becoming a Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Manassas,VA.
