Role Summary

The account manager is responsible for handling the most important client accounts in a company. Some of these accounts make up the highest percentage of company income, and the account manager must build and maintain a strong relationship with the clients. Position will be the lead point of contact for all client matters, partner with, study, and anticipate the client’s needs, work within the company to ensure deadlines for the client are met and go above and beyond to maintain and grow the account. The account manager will also bring in new business from existing clients or contacts and will develop new relationships with potential clients.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and continue a solid and trusting relationship between account and company.
  2. Bridge leaning gaps between account and company to further solidify the relationship.
  3. Resolve account issues and any customer complaints.
  4. Develop a complete understanding of account needs and train company personnel on these needs.
  5. Implement support programs / systems at company to best serve account.
  6. Manage support team for the account ensuring sales reports and store set analysis are done for each set.
  7. Short- and long-term strategic planning to improve account results.
  8. Negotiate pricing and contracts with the account and establish and enforce timelines for results.
  9. Work with design, sales, creative, advertising, logistics, shipping managers, marketing, and other internal and external team members to ensure account has the highest quality of materials and best service level within agreed upon terms.
  10. Collaborating with internal and external sales and marketing teams to maximize profit by cross-selling and up-selling.
  11. Planning and presenting reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members, stakeholders, and possible use in future case studies or company training.
  12. Meet all client needs and deliverables according to proposed timelines, especially information data entry with various deadlines.
  13. In-depth analysis of account data to provide account relationship management and support.
  14. Expanding relationships and bringing in new accounts.


Qualifications and Skills


  1. 3+ years working with retailer accounts in consumables and/or hardlines.
  2. 4 year degree in Sales related field (business, psychology, marketing) and five plus years of sales or account management experience in a manufacturing facility.
  3. Knowledge of online data entry systems and access management of those systems.
  4. Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  5. Goal-oriented, very organized team player.
  6. Encouraging staff and team; able to mentor and lead.
  7. In-depth understanding of our key customers and their position in the industry.
  8. Eager to expand the company with new sales, clients, and territories.
  9. Able to analyze data and sales statistics to translate results into better solutions.
  10. Self-motivated and self-directed.
  11. Strong negotiation skills, with ability to follow-through on client contracts.
  12. Computer skills, including experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software, NetSuite, and Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on superior Excel skills.
  13. Proven results of delivering client solutions and exceeding sales and support goals.
  14. Ability to work from the office and travel as needed.
