Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Monitor Tech, you will play a critical, front-line role in ensuring patient safety and contributing to immediate clinical interventions by vigilantly observing and interpreting cardiac rhythms. You will be the vital eyes and ears, providing continuous surveillance and timely communication that directly impacts rapid response and optimal patient outcomes.

Every day you will meticulously observe and analyze cardiac rhythms for multiple patients concurrently on our central monitoring system, promptly recognizing and identifying life-threatening arrhythmias, changes in heart rate, and significant waveform alterations. You will precisely measure EKG intervals, accurately document all relevant cardiac events, and rapidly communicate critical deviations and emergent situations to the nursing and provider teams, ensuring immediate attention and intervention.

To be successful in this role, you will leverage your expert knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology and rhythm interpretation to differentiate between benign changes and critical events, acting as an essential early warning system. You will collaborate seamlessly with nurses and physicians, providing clear, concise reports that inform urgent clinical decisions.


Job Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and respond appropriately in stressful situations
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using personal computer
  • Ability to assertively advocate for patient safety by communicating the urgency of patient hemodynamic instability through monitoring of vital signs and rhythm changes from the monitor screens
  • Must pass an EKG validation test within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter to ensure competency

Preferred

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of and demonstrated skill in recognizingabnormal cardiac rhythms
  • Experience in related healthcare setting in a clinical, clerical or service capacity
