We’re hiring Traveling Millwrights to assemble, install, dismantle, and maintain grain handling and conveying systems in agricultural processing plants, ethanol facilities, and grain elevators nationwide. This role is ideal for mechanically skilled professionals who enjoy hands‑on work, traveling full‑time, and working on large‑scale industrial projects from start to finish.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble, erect, and install steel structures and conveying equipment inside industrial facilities
- Build, modify, and dismantle grain elevators, conveyors, and processing systems
- Interpret and work from shop drawings, blueprints, and layout plans
- Perform non‑critical welding (stick, MIG, and TIG) for installation, repair, and fabrication
- Establish center lines, elevations, and layouts to ensure precise equipment alignment
- Perform complex rigging operations to safely move, lift, and position heavy equipment
- Install, anchor, level, and align machinery and components to specification
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including conveyors, motors, bearings, gears, hydraulics, and piping
- Perform basic pipe fitting and piping associated with grain handling equipment
- Use power tools and hand tools for installation, maintenance, and repair
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Work safely at heights during installation, dismantling, and maintenance tasks
- Collaborate with a crew of 4–5 millwrights under a foreman or superintendent
- Follow all safety procedures and site regulations in active industrial environments
- Adapt to changing project demands, site conditions, and schedules
- Travel 100% of the time on a 10‑days‑on / 4‑days‑off rotation
What We’re Looking For (Required)
- 2+ years of experience installing conveyor equipment in industrial or agricultural environments
- Hands‑on millwright experience with:
- Conveying systems
- Gears, motors, bearings
- Mechanical assemblies and installations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and layout plans
- Experience with rigging and setting heavy equipment safely
- Proficiency using power tools and hand tools
- Ability to perform basic stick and MIG welding
- Comfort and experience working at heights
- Strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repair
- Willingness and ability to travel full‑time on a rotating schedule
- Safety‑focused mindset and attention to detail
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- 6+ months of job‑site welding or fabrication experience
- TIG welding experience
- Work Experience in construction, industrial maintenance, or mechanical installation
- Experience working in:
- Grain elevators
- Ethanol plants
- Agricultural processing facilities
- Pipe fitting or piping experience
- Strong teamwork skills and adaptability to changing job conditions
Schedule & Travel
- 100% travel to industrial job sites nationwide
- 10 days on / 4 days off rotation (consistent and predictable)
- Typical hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Extended hours, weekends, and overtime as project needs require
- Work with steady crews—no bouncing between short‑term jobs

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of CEDAR RAPIDS, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
