Job Title: Mill Machinist - 2nd shift

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Horizontal Boring Mill Machinist for our 2nd shift. The role involves complete machine setups, making offsets and adjustments, reading G/M coding and blueprints, changing out tooling, working with large delicate pieces, performing first part inspections, and handling various metal materials such as castings and steel. The machinist will be responsible for creating true positions (zero-point), running metrology checks on parts, and washing completed parts for packing. Additionally, the role requires the use of an overhead crane to move casings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct full machine setups and make necessary offsets and adjustments.
• Read and interpret G/M coding and blueprints accurately.
• Change out tooling efficiently and perform first part inspections.
• Work with delicate and large pieces using precision.
• Handle different metal materials, primarily castings and steel.
• Create true positions (zero-point) and run metrology checks on parts.
• Wash completed parts to finish for packing.
• Utilize overhead cranes to move casings.

Essential Skills

• 3-5+ years of experience with 3 axis CNC Mill.
• Proficiency in setting up and changing out tooling, averaging 2 setups per day.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand G & M code.
• Capability to hold tolerances of +/- .005.
• Experience using quality instruments such as mics, calipers, bore gauges, and gauge pins.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Horizontal Boring Mill and Fanuc controllers.
• Proficient in working with delicate or large pieces.
• Familiarity with Kizer/Kuraki Boring Mill.
• Overhead crane/hoist experience.
• Programming knowledge in G & M Code.
• Ownership of tools like mics, calipers, bore gauges, and gauge pins.
• Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
• Military background is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is a small, family-owned T&D shop with a 'Mom/Pop' feel. The 2nd shift runs from 3:00pm to midnight. Employees are expected to wear appropriate attire suitable for a machining shop and utilize precision measuring tools and overhead cranes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Elkhart,IN.
