The Microbiology Technician shall be familiar with the requirements of the job description, capable of performing the functions indicated in the job description, the McGuff organizational chart, and McGuff employee policies/procedures.
I. Job Description:
The Microbiology Technician will implement and perform to elements of the quality system and associated procedures as well as provide microbiology and chemistry testing as assigned. The Microbiology Technician will (1) Verifying that materials and products comply with microbial and/or chemical specification limits (2) Conducting laboratory testing in support of operations, (3) Maintain the laboratory operations in compliance with McGuff policies, federal regulations, state regulations, and international standards, (4) Maintain documentation, calibration, and validation of all microbial equipment, (5) conduct other duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor and/or Microbiologist.
Duties shall include:
1. Perform lab work as needed: LAL, Environmental Monitoring, Bioburden, sterility testing, chemistry analysis (cross train) according to written procedures, etc…
2. Documenting work according to cGMP/cGLP requirements.
3. Keep files of all microbial/chemical tests performed; maintain log book of all samples received for analysis.
4. Other QC activities to support manufacturing and pharmacy operations, as assigned.
5. Ordering and stocking laboratory supplies and materials.
6. Preparing laboratory materials, glassware, equipment for use.
7. Ensure samples delivered to the laboratory are controlled and methods applied are as required and valid.
8. Conduct/coordinate the repair/maintenance of laboratory equipment.
9. Other responsibilities: filing, typing letters, customer follow up, working with other people in the office (the people in purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and the warehouse).
10. Other varied duties as assigned.
II. Physical Requirements:
The position requires bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level. In addition, the job will require sitting, standing walking, handling and manipulating objects (manual dexterity and fine finger movement). The position will require repetitively lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
III. Qualifications include:
1. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in related field or comparable additional experience.
2. Experience: minimum of 0 to 7 years related industry experience.
3. Prefer Knowledge of FDA cGMP requirements
4. Prefer Knowledge of ISO 9000 requirements.
5. Proficient with computers and related software (Microsoft Office Professional)
