Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Nebraska license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

Special Requests: - An interview may not be available prior to offer. - Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. - Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility. - Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months. - References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to. - Submission Limit: Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. - Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. - Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care; refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. - Required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding. Open-book exam is given Friday during orientation on skills learned; all necessary resources are provided, and a score of 90% is required to pass. - RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13-week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions. - Patient population includes MedSurg/Tele patients such as joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. - Expected to manage heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; PCA pumps are commonly used. - Tele techs interpret strips; RNs should have some telemetry awareness. - This unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day and serves patients of all cultures, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese populations.
Shift & Scheduling: - Travelers will be scheduled. A limited amount of block scheduling may be approved. - Typically every other weekend, though additional coverage may be needed based on department demand. Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance, with the manager making adjustments as needed. - 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years.
Floating Requirements: - Float to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.
7 days maximum time off. Facility holidays: 11/26/2026, 12/25/2026, 01/01/2027. Number of holidays allowed off: 1. Start assignment restriction: 14 days
1 Charge/Lead reference from within the last 12 months
1 Manager/Supervisor reference from within the last 3 years
Driver’s license required for submission
Certifications:
