Medical Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests to deliver quality patient care. You will ensure the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory procedures, while maintaining a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

• State Medical Technologist license may be required.
• ASCP or AMT certification is either preferred or required.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Generalist experience in all areas is preferred, with a focus on Chemistry.
• Sample processing, grossing, and staining experience.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

The role requires comfort with being on your feet for extended periods in a fast-paced environment. You will be working with various laboratory technologies and equipment and are expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Jacksonville,FL.
