Medical Assistant

Location: Manhattan and Brooklyn

Position Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $18 - $24 an hour

We are a patient-centered, multi-specialty medical practice with seven locations across New York City. We are seeking skilled and compassionate Medical Assistants to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. General Responsibilities

1. Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and collecting specimens.

2. Manage a smooth office flow by assessing and anticipating physician schedules and using clinical space effectively.

3. Take patient histories, vital signs, and record information in the EMR system.

4. Prepare patients for procedures. Included but not limited to pelvic exams, IUD insertions, Nexplanon insertions and removals, and colposcopies.

5. Perform phlebotomy duties and point-of-care tests such as urinalysis, glucose monitoring and pregnancy tests.

6. Prepare, label and process collected specimens, and ensure timely delivery of specimens to appropriate designation.

7. Maintain appropriate lab logs during sessions.

8. Clean and maintain examination and treatment rooms daily.

9. Manage equipment and supply inventory, including the routine review and removal of expired medical supplies.

10. Process, sterilize, and organize instruments daily.

  1. Manage and track patient flow from arrival until exam room departure using the EMR system, including welcoming and informing patients of any delays.

12. Serve as a liaison between physicians, patients, and staff.

13. Function as a team member, including being flexible, able to work additional hours when needed, and providing backup coverage to other medical assistants in the practice.

14. Maintain professional demeanor at all times with patients, physicians, and coworkers.

16. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by physicians.

17. Comply with all HIPAA regulations and office safety compliance guidelines.


Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.

- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is highly desirable.

- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and basic life support (BLS) procedures.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide exceptional patient service.

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Basic knowledge of anatomy and medical procedures.

- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.


Required Education and Experience

1. Previous experience in a clinical or hospital environment, preferably in OBGYN.

2. Active Certified Medical Assistant license.

3. Knowledgeable in assisting physicians with medical procedures.

4. Minimum of two years of experience as Certified Medical Assistant.

5. Excellent assessment skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

7. Work independently and effectively in a busy environment.

8. Knowledgeable of EMR’s (preferably eCW) and regulatory practices.
