We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to perform complex mechanical modifications and customizations on a variety of vehicles, including trucks, specialty vehicles, and heavy equipment. This role involves installing aftermarket components, fabricating custom parts, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and ensuring all modifications meet safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a shop environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical modifications and customizations on trucks, specialty vehicles, and heavy equipment
  • Install aftermarket components, systems, and sub-assemblies
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and modification specifications
  • Fabricate custom parts, brackets, and mounting systems as required
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues related to modification work and perform corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot avionics and mechanical assemblies and document root causes for configuration management
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams to ensure modifications meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Conduct quality inspections and testing to verify proper installation and operation of modified systems
  • Maintain accurate records of modifications performed, parts used, and work completed
  • Provide technical guidance and support to apprentices or junior technicians
  • Communicate progress, issues, and recommendations to supervisors and project managers
  • Follow all safety protocols, shop regulations, and environmental standards
  • Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies, and relevant certifications related to heavy vehicle modifications


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field (relevant degree may substitute for experience)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience using tools and shop equipment safely
  • Ability to provide personal tools and toolbox
  • Basic computer skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certification in a technical field such as HVAC or electrical
  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • Experience working with hand and power tools
  • Forklift operating experience


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand and walk for most of the work shift
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in potentially hazardous or loud environments
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Flexible schedule, including longer hours, weekend work, and possible second shift work
