Short Summary about Job:
HukariAscendent is seeking a Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and support mechanical and utility systems for nuclear facility infrastructure in Oak Ridge, TN. This onsite role covers piping, HVAC, utilities, and related systems in both new construction and existing facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field from an ABET EAC-accredited program.
- Demonstrated experience using CAD tools and developing or interpreting P&IDs.
- Hands-on experience supporting mechanical, manufacturing, facility, or utility systems, including equipment specification, purchasing, installation, and operational support.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals related to piping systems, HVAC, utilities, and industrial infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with 2D and/or 3D engineering and manufacturing software such as AutoCAD, ProE, or comparable tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of relevant professional experience preferred; advanced degrees may substitute for a portion of required experience.
- Experience working within manufacturing, industrial, or highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and modern facility design methodologies.
Miscellaneous/Additional Information
- Onsite position in Oak Ridge, TN. Full-time, exempt position; Monday–Friday, 40-hour work week.
- Responsibilities include designing and supporting mechanical and utility systems (piping networks, HVAC, compressed air, chilled and process water, chemical distribution, exhaust, structural elements, and material handling equipment).
- Will prepare engineering designs and technical documentation, coordinate with suppliers and contractors, and support facility layout planning and integration of mechanical systems.
- Participates in hazard assessments, safety evaluations, and design reviews; provides mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
