Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer (Contractor) to support the structural design, development, and scaling of mounting systems used to integrate autonomy compute, networking, and sensor hardware across multiple vehicle platforms. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, especially the electrical harness team, to deliver fully integrated system solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototype builds, validation testing, and production-ready development within automotive or similar high-reliability environments. Strong proficiency in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE (V6) is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop structural mounting systems for autonomy hardware including compute units, sensors, and networking components
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and assemblies using CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE V6
  • Lead first-article builds, including prototype fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting
  • Perform structural analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and design validation
  • Collaborate closely with electrical harness teams to ensure seamless mechanical and electrical integration
  • Support validation activities including DVP testing, vibration, thermal, and durability assessments
  • Drive design improvements for manufacturability, serviceability, and scalability
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to transition designs into production
  • Document design changes, validation results, and engineering decisions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in automotive or mobility systems
  • Strong expertise in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE (V6)
  • Experience with structural components, mounting brackets, and enclosures
  • Hands-on experience with prototype builds and testing
  • Understanding of vehicle packaging, integration constraints, and environmental requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous vehicle systems or ADAS hardware integration
  • Familiarity with vibration, shock, and thermal validation standards
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, machining, and injection molding
  • Experience supporting low-volume builds through high-volume production scaling
