Mechanical Engineer - Semiconductor Megaproject - Phoenix, AZ

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer responsible for producing detailed engineering designs, technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models that meet our specifications and client needs. This role involves creating, influencing, and finalizing designs for various mechanical systems, including industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, chillers, boilers, HVAC ducting, exhaust, motor control, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, and Fire Protection systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to continue developing their career through one of the most historic construction projects to be built in the United States. This person will sit onsite on the North side of Phoenix, AZ, while gaining competitive industry experience. There are multiple years of work planned out for just this particular project, with additional workload behind it.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed mechanical system calculations such as load analysis, pump head curves, pressure drop, and energy consumption to optimize system performance.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while making minor adaptations and modifications to design concepts.
  • Ensure quality control by complying with company and team design and CAD standards.
  • Collaborate with the design team, other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders on specific objectives and complex features.
  • Facilitate design review meetings, ensuring deliverables meet quality assurance standards and project milestones.
  • Coordinate designs and develop understanding with other design disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.).
  • Perform field verifications/site walks to identify, verify, and incorporate solutions into design packages.
  • Manage technical inquiries, submittal reviews, and RFI responses from contractors and vendors, supporting contractor coordination during procurement and installation phases.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience and strong proficiency in AutoCAD
  • 1+ years of experience in Industrial Projects - Data Centers, Semiconductor, Tool Install, Healthcare, or Oil & Gas
  • 1+ years of experience in Mechanical Calculations - Load Analysis, Pump Head Curves, Pressure Drop, Energy Consumption
  • Experience designing HVAC Systems, Chillers, Boilers, Pump Hydraulics, Exhaust, Process Chemicals, and Wastewater Discharge
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and client interaction

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred but not required - 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Preferred but not required - Experience with semiconductor or tool install projects
  • Preferred but not required - Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO, or similar tools

Work Environment

This position requires working 5 days on-site, with a flexible start time between 6 AM to 7 AM. The role involves working 40 to 50 hours per week, with eligibility for overtime. There are about 50 employees on-site, and the work reports to the Section Manager. This is a massive megaproject location, with multiple other companies and contractors onsite. This site also has ongoing construction for multiple facilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.69 - $48.00/hr.
