Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Location: Oro Valley, AZ

Duration: 6+ Months

Pay Rate: $45-$50/hr.

Position Summary

Provides senior-level mechanical engineering expertise across the full product lifecycle (design through production) for aerospace electronic components. Focuses on electronic packaging design, mechanical analysis, testing, and engineering documentation for development and sustaining projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Electronic packaging design for aerospace hardware
• 3D/2D CAD design (sheet metal, machined, plastic, cast parts) – SolidWorks preferred
• Create drawing packages, assembly documentation, BOMs, and ECOs
• Perform structural and thermal FEA (ANSYS preferred)
• Conduct mechanical & environmental testing and build prototypes
• Perform weight analysis and prepare technical reports
• Lead design reviews, dFMEA/pFMEA, and risk management activities
• Interface with customers and provide subject matter expertise
• Mentor junior engineers and drive process improvements
• Execute engineering strategy and support cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 8+ years of relevant experience
• Strong expertise in mechanical design & electronic packaging
• Proficient in SolidWorks and FEA (ANSYS)
• Knowledge of DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, ARP (asset)
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
