Minimum Qualifications
Must be US Citizen, Permanent Resident/Green Card, or Asylum status not requiring sponsorship
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of recent experience designing aerospace or comparable mechanical systems within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle environments.
Strong mechanical design and integration experience using 3D CAD platforms (e.g., Creo, NX, CATIA, SolidWorks).
Working knowledge of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
Familiarity with fabrication and integration processes, including quality control for tubing/piping, welded structures, and machined components.
Solid understanding of metallic and non-metallic materials, coatings, and surface treatments.
Hands-on experience in assembly, integration, or test environments, working alongside technicians to troubleshoot build issues and implement design or tooling solutions.
Experience operating independently in fast-paced development or prototype programs with evolving requirements.
Demonstrated ability to build trust, maintain professional relationships, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team environment.
Responsibilities
Utilize core engineering principles to design, install, modify, analyze, and repair mechanical systems and hardware.
Act as a primary mechanical engineering liaison for integration and assembly efforts, including:
Developing and refining assembly sequences and build strategies.
Prioritizing and coordinating available work scope.
Removing technical and procedural blockers to keep integration on track.
Create and release engineering deliverables (3D models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions) to support fabrication, assembly, testing, verification, and operations.
Design, develop, and sustain mechanical ground support equipment (GSE) and tooling—including fixtures, alignment tools, lifting/handling devices, and checkout systems—to enable safe and efficient integration and testing.
Provide hands-on engineering support on the production floor during assembly and integration:
Partner directly with technicians to resolve fit, alignment, and accessibility challenges.
Lead nonconformance investigations, develop rework strategies, and implement rapid design updates.
Develop, refine, and standardize operating procedures and processes; troubleshoot system issues and deliver clear technical direction to stakeholders.
Evaluate design concepts, specifications, and technical documentation to assess feasibility, cost, risk, and maintainability.
Define system components and oversee modifications to ensure alignment with design intent, performance criteria, and applicable standards.
Investigate equipment failures and integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions with recommendations for maintenance and operations.
Collaborate cross-functionally with systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, test, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, maintainable, and verifiable.
