Mechanical CAD Drafter – Aerospace Manufacturing

About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-driven Mechanical CAD Drafter with real-world manufacturing experience to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This is a hands-on, shop-floor–connected role where your work directly supports production success—from clean SolidWorks models to accurate BOMs and build-ready documentation.

If you enjoy seeing your designs turn into flight-ready hardware, collaborating closely with engineers and manufacturing teams, and catching issues before they impact production, this role was built for you.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll serve as a critical link between engineering, manufacturing, and inventory control, ensuring designs are production-ready and accurately translated into the shop floor environment.

  • Create, modify, and maintain 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks
  • Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, including GD&T as required
  • Develop and maintain multi-level, fully indented Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Enter and manage engineering data within the SyteLine MRP system
  • Structure assemblies correctly within MRP to support clean builds and kitting
  • Create clear, concise assembly instructions for production teams
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and drawing revisions
  • Work directly on the shop floor to:
    • Review manufacturing kits prior to builds
    • Identify missing, incorrect, or obsolete components
    • Validate parts against drawings and BOMs
    • Support first-article inspections and production builds
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve documentation accuracy and build efficiency
What You Bring
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Hands-on experience creating manufacturing drawings and BOMs
  • Proficiency with GD&T
  • Experience working in a structured MRP environment
  • (SyteLine experience is a strong plus)
  • Ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings and specifications
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, such as:
    • Machining
    • Fabrication
    • Assembly
    • Plastic injection molding (preferred)
  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and documentation accuracy
  • Comfort working in both office and shop-floor environments
