Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Description

Responsible for performing design duties on assigned projects involving process, service and utility piping, supports, HVAC, equipment layout, and other mechanically related tasks. Assist project manager in developing bids, proposals, estimates, scopes of work, schedules, material lists, design concepts, design drawings, correspondence, scope change submittals, and other project documentation per customer and corporate standards. Conduct field work and technical research.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain project files and documentation.
  • Certify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain scope, schedule, and budget in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to subordinate staff members on day-to-day matters.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in piping design, HVAC design, and Plant 3D.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in piping/HVAC design.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Working knowledge/exposure of Plant 3D.
  • Experience as a pipefitter in the field.

Work Environment

80% of the time will be spent in the office, with 20% dedicated to performing field visits. The office hosts 100 employees and is expected to grow to 115. Most work is split between various heavy industrial clients in Virginia, offering a stable work environment. The dress code is business casual, with a standard work schedule from Monday through Friday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midlothian, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $51.00 - $51.00/hr.
