Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Suffolk County, NY (Onsite)

Schedule: 9/80 work week – off every other Friday

Pay Rate: $45–$60/hr

Duration: 9‑month contract


We’re an award‑winning engineering services company experiencing renewed growth and are looking to bring on an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a growing portfolio of client-driven projects. This role is ideal for someone who can hit the ground running, enjoys variety, and thrives in a small, collaborative, hands‑on team environment.

You’ll work out of our Suffolk County office and partner closely with internal teams and multiple Long Island–based clients, taking mechanical designs from concept through analysis, prototyping, and manufacturing.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a key contributor on the mechanical engineering team, you will:

  • Design mechanical systems, assemblies, and machined components using SolidWorks
  • Develop production‑ready 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembly
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS (or similar FEA tools) to validate and optimize designs
  • Apply strong machine design principles to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Participate in and lead design reviews, incorporating feedback and best practices
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with manufacturing, electrical, and controls engineers
  • Support new product development from early concept through prototyping and release
  • Assist with prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure compliance with standards and procedures
  • Interface directly with client teams and integrate quickly into ongoing projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of hands‑on mechanical design experience (machinery or industrial equipment preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Experience performing FEA using ANSYS or similar tools
  • Strong knowledge of machine design, materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to integrate quickly with client teams
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced consulting environment

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with injection mold design
  • Background in engineering services or consulting
  • Experience supporting multiple clients simultaneously
  • Exposure to new product development from concept to production

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
