Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

The Mechanical Assembler builds industrial sweeping machines by following detailed work instructions and using a variety of hand and power tools. This role involves assembling hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical subassemblies at multiple stations, progressively installing key components until the machine is fully completed.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble industrial sweeping machines by following written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Use hand and power tools such as screw guns, sockets, wrenches, and related equipment to complete mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies.
  • Work through four dedicated assembly stations that increase in complexity, contributing approximately 4–5 hours of labor at each station.
  • Install major components including brakes, tires, engine, lift arms, radiator, hoses, wiring harnesses, and subassemblies.
  • Electrify the machine by installing and connecting electrical components and harnesses as instructed.
  • Install sheet metal panels and the hopper during final assembly to complete the machine build.
  • Handle heavy assembly tasks safely, using proper techniques and tools to move and secure components.
  • Inspect work at each stage to ensure assemblies meet quality, safety, and functional standards.
  • Follow all safety guidelines in a safety-conscious environment, including proper use of tools and personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members at each station to maintain efficient workflow and consistent production quality.

Essential Skills

  • Proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how components fit and function together.
  • Hands-on experience using sockets, wrenches, nuts, bolts, and screw guns for assembly work.
  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly, including hydraulic assembly and heavy assembly tasks.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, including screw guns and other common shop tools.
  • Capability to follow detailed work instructions and complete multi-step assembly processes accurately.
  • Comfort working with engines and mechanical systems, including basic engine repair or assembly exposure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable assemblies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on mechanical work such as military mechanics, trade school training, mechanical hobbies, or prior manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, especially in non-traditional line or station-based assembly settings.
  • Ability to work efficiently at multiple assembly stations with progressively more complex tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot minor assembly issues.
  • Willingness to learn new assembly processes and adapt to different stations as needed.

Why Work Here?

You join a team that values a stable, climate-controlled, and well-organized work environment where people enjoy working together. The facility emphasizes consistency, safety, and respect, creating a workplace where employees feel supported and appreciated. When you transition to permanent status, you gain access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and 401(k), supporting both your well-being and long-term financial security.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing setting that differs from traditional line assembly. Instead of a moving line, there are four to five well-defined stations where multiple assembly processes are completed at each stop. The facility is well lit and safety conscious, with clear procedures and a strong focus on safe tool use and ergonomics. The standard schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime of approximately 3–5 hours per week depending on production needs. The environment supports focused, hands-on work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components in an organized and professional shop setting.
