Job Title: Furnace – Industrial Assembler

Job Description

You will rotate through various departments, learning mechanical assembly, panel building, wire assembly, and subsystem construction while applying your mechanical aptitude, measurement skills, and experience with tools. This role requires long hours, including 50+ hours per week with a 5:00 AM start time, and offers the opportunity to grow your skills, take on more complex tasks, and advance within a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install wire channels in each cabinet by placing channels into designated areas and securing them with tabs and prongs, including double cabinets as required.
  • Install numbered wires into corresponding terminals or locations, using diagrams and pictures to ensure accurate point-to-point wiring; work with wires that are pre-cut to length and with pre-assembled harnesses.
  • Add buss bars and other heavier components to control panels, using forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed and performing occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Install additional hardware, fasteners, and accessories in specified locations to complete the control panel assembly.
  • Apply stickers, labels, and safety signs to control panel doors and other surfaces according to requirements and standards.
  • Support the full lifecycle of each control panel, understanding that each unit typically takes approximately two weeks to assemble and two weeks to test, clean, and prepare for shipment.
  • Work on mechanical assembly of furnace systems and subsystems, including piping and related components for heating and cooling systems.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, and fit pipes and tubing for both heating and cooling applications, using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Use tape measures and other measurement tools accurately to ensure correct dimensions and proper fit of components.
  • Apply any HVAC, plumbing, or pipefitting experience to the assembly of mechanical subsystems and piping layouts.
  • Operate power tools, saws, hand tools, screw guns, and other small equipment safely and effectively during assembly tasks.
  • Perform repetitive labor duties while standing for the entire shift, maintaining productivity, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Participate in on-the-job training, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and apply new knowledge to increasingly complex assembly tasks.
  • Take initiative to advance in the role by seeking opportunities to learn different departments and processes, and by contributing ideas for improvement.
  • Support related fabrication tasks such as basic metal fabrication, carpentry-related work, or industrial painting, sandblasting, and powder coating as needed, depending on skills.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet production goals, maintain quality standards, and ensure timely completion of customer orders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience or familiarity with automotive mechanics, metal fabrication, or industrial fabrication.
  • Background or training in HVAC, plumbing, or pipefitting, especially involving assembly and fitting of pipes for heating and cooling systems.
  • Experience with carpentry tasks in an industrial or fabrication setting.
  • Exposure to industrial painting, sandblasting, or powder coating processes.
  • Experience in panel building, wire assembly, or electrical control panel work.
  • Skills in plumbing, brazing, and soldering; brazing and soldering are considered a plus and can be taught on the job.
  • Comfort working with mechanical subsystems and piping layouts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical schooling, vocational training, or certifications related to mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or industrial trades are preferred but not required.
